Guidance for paediatricians and other health professionals on how to recognise and manage incidents of perplexing presentations (PP) or fabricated or induced illness (FII). The guide includes a summary of research on PP and FII, definitions and features. Topics covered include: responding to alerting signs; health and education rehabilitation plans; referring to children's social care; record keeping; and training, supervision and support. The guidance refers to statutory child protection guidance in England but is also intended to be applicable to paediatricians in the devolved nations.

Free 'Online Harms' training sessions for parents/ carers & professionals from Marie Collins Foundation

NSPCC: Home or out alone
NSPCC Learning has made available a guide for professionals to help parents and carers decide whether their child is ready to either stay at home or go out alone. The guide covers some of the risks parents should consider before making a decision, such as how their child feels about the idea and who they should contact in an emergency. There is also a checklist for parents and children to work through together to help them prepare for different types of scenarios.

Justice Secretary Robert Buckland has apologised to rape victims for low conviction rates in England and Wales and promised to "do a lot better".
In an exclusive BBC interview, he said it was "not good enough" and admitted budget cuts were partly to blame. Rape convictions have fallen to a record low in recent years. The government said it was now considering allowing victims to pre-record their evidence to spare them the trauma of a courtroom trial.

Knowledge gaps between professionals and the young people they support may be apparent when it comes to online activity. Building up awareness over such issues could facilitate smoother conversations. Remember, that young people may not necessarily be using the dark web for illicit reasons and that equivalent risks exist on the open web.
