12th July (1300-1630) TEAMS

Everyone who engages with children/ young people has a part to play in tackling exploitation. Working together to understand the child exploitation taking place in a certain local area is crucial to effectively target, prevent and disrupt offending. This free 3.5 hour Pan Beds Multi Agency session will assist practitioners in minimising missed opportunities to disrupt offenders and safeguard victims.

Delivered by Helen Matthews and Andy Thompson from CYP First, this free multi-agency briefing will help you to understand the Home Office Child Exploitation Disruption Toolkit and how you can make a difference with disruption.

*Contextual Safeguarding Partnership Event*

21st July (0900-1630) at Beds Police HQ, Woburn Rd.

Contextual Safeguarding, developed by Dr. Carlene Firmin (University of Bedfordshire) recognises that as young people grow and develop, they are influenced by a range of factors outside of their family. Factors can be inter-related meaning that children and young people may encounter multiple risks. Contextual safeguarding looks at how we can best understand these risks, engage with children and young people and help to keep them safe. It's an approach that's often been used to apply to adolescents, though the lessons can equally be applied to younger children, especially in today's changing world.

This Contextual Safeguarding Partnership event brings together local and national experts to share a multi-agency picture of contextual safeguarding, highlighting resources and support available, whilst hearing, and learning from, lived experience.

NOTE: We are using a waitlist to manage bookings on this event and ensure fair distribution of places across agencies. If you would like to request a place, please add yourself to the wait list and hold the date in your calendar. Places will be confirmed w/c 10th July. Please do not attend without a confirmed place as you will be turned away. Attendees will need to provide their own lunch.
