FREE WEBINAR: Helping young children navigate the digital world

Are you an independent foster carer or an agency? Or simply interested in learning more about the fostering community?

Join One Touch Health in celebrating Foster Carer Fortnight with a webinar centred around this year's theme of 'fostering communities', focusing on safer internet practices and what that means for foster carers with young children.

What to expect

  • Challenges and roadblocks foster carers face when navigating internet safety with their foster children.

  • Real life fostering scenarios to demonstrate how to handle these challenges effectively.

  • Hear from Sophie, a care-experienced young person as she shares the positive impact care has had on her life.

  • Demonstration of the tri.x Foster Carer Handbook and an overview to explain its support, solution and guidance available to foster carers.

  • Discussions around the positive aspects of foster carers participating in online communities and how to leverage them to create a safe and supportive network.

  • Q&A and time for an optional open discussion between like-minded professionals.

Speakers

Ros Wilson, Registered Social Worker and Lead Consultant at tri.x - Ros graduated as a social worker in 2008. She worked in the children in care team in Bristol for 8 years, supporting young people in the care system and the network around them. Ros remained with Bristol but moved to be a Senior Social Worker in the kinship fostering team where she remained for 5 years until joining tri.x. Alongside her work with local authorities, she completed several fostering, adoption and kinship assessments on an independent basis.

"I have a great deal of respect and admiration for foster carers. I have witnessed how the relationships they build with children and young people, even for a short time, can transform lives. I am very passionate about ensuring foster carers (including family carers) receive the appropriate support and advice. During my time at tri.x I have completed a review of the Foster Carer Handbook, meeting with practitioners, managers and foster carers to ensure that the Handbook is as accessible and helpful as possible for carers and their support."
